Addis Ababa, April 20, 2010 (Addis Ababa) - The African Ombudsmen Association (AOMA) General Assembly elected Ethiopia to coordinate Ombudsmen institutions of East African countries for the coming two years, the Ethiopian Institution of Ombudsman said.According to a statement the institution sent to ENA on Tuesday, the AOMA General Assembly held in Luanda, Angola from April 12 - 15, 2010 elected Ethiopia to coordinate the institutions.
The statement said the theme of the assembly was "The ombudsman and Fair Governance”.
Participants drawn from 19 African countries took part in the assembly.
The assembly also discussed on research papers on good governance and human rights situation in the continent.
The first general assembly of AOMA was held in South Africa while the 2nd held in Tripoli, Libya, according to the statement.
