Speaking on the occasion, President Girma Woldegiorgis said the establishment of the federation would enable youth to play an active role in ongoing effort geared toward building the new Ethiopia.

The government has been doing its level best to participate and benefit youth from overall development endeavor in the nation.

President Girma said the national youth policy and the youth development policy, being implemented with the active involvement of the youth, are among the efforts of the government for the same purpose.

Speaking on her part, Youth and Sport Minister Aster Mamo said the establishment of the federation would enable youth across the nation to join efforts to ensure their socio-economic benefit.

Federation’s founding committee Chairperson, Wubshet Gebregziabher said the committee has been executing several preparations over the past five months.

Youth participation and mobilization conferences were organized twice in all regional states as well as Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa administrations.

More than eight million youth took part in the conferences.
