Addis Ababa, April 20, 2009 (Addis Ababa) - Ethiopia is among few countries that register successful results in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS through community conversation, the Executive Director of UNAIDS Michel Sidibé said.While conferring with President Girma here on Monday, Sidibé said community conversation has brought remarkable results in containing the speared of the virus in the country, he said.
Ethiopia’s intensive HIV/AIDS intervention has enabled to decrease the rate of the spread of the virus.
He said Ethiopia has done successful works in this regard.
The director commends the effort of the Ethiopia government to curtail the spread of the disease.
His visit to Ethiopia is the first in Africa since his appointment.
He expressed his belief that he would work with the Ethiopian government closely to curtail the speared of the virus.
President Girma Woldegiorgis confirmed that the Ethiopian government readiness to work closely with UNAIDS.
