Addis Ababa, April 29, 2008 (Addis Ababa) - The Ethiopian Athletics Federation constructed a new building in Addis Ababa City at a cost of 16 million Birr.At the inaugural ceremony, Federation President Bisrat Gashawtena said on Monday the federation was so far devoid of administrative offices of its own.
She said the construction of the new building would help the federation to intensify efforts toward developing the Ethiopian athletics in the years to come.
The six-floored building comprises, among others, administrative offices, an assembly hall, a gymnasium, a clinic, a library, a restaurant, and a Jacuzzi.
The new building was laid on federation’s plot of land granted from the Ababa City Administration as a gesture for the victory of Ethiopian athletes during the world athletics championship held three years ago.
IAAF President, Lamin Diac, AAC President, Hamad Kalkaba, HPR Speaker, Ambassador Teshome Toga, State Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Abdissa Yadeta, State Minister of Works ands Urban Development, Arkebe Iqubay attended the inaugural ceremony.
The IAAF and AAC presidents said on the occasion that the construction of the building would be exemplary to other African countries.
