Addis Ababa, October 25, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - Minister of Justice Assefa Kesito said his ministry would further strengthen its efforts of institutional change it has launched with a view to delivering efficient service to the public.The ministry which was established in 1900 E.C would celebrate its 100th founding anniversary on Friday.
Briefing journalists in his office on Thursday, the Minister said the institutional change the ministry launched to address its service delivery problems would further be intensified in the millennium to realize its mission of serving the public.
The Business Reengineering Process (BPR) study carried out in 2005 has brought some encouraging results in the working procedure of the ministry, he said.
The ministry, sharing experience from some countries, has launched new working procedures on prosecution, legislation and registration of associations.
The ministry has drawn relevant experience from Canada, France, Germany and Singapore.
After putting into practice the new working procedures, Assefa said, speedy justice delivery service systems were established in first instant and higher courts in two sub cities of the metropolis.
The 100th founding anniversary of the ministry would be celebrated with the presence senior government officials, renowned personalities and former ministers of the ministry.
The celebration would be a time when staff of the ministry renewed commitment to ensure the ministry's mission of serving the public through intensifying the institutional change, the minister said.
