Addis Ababa, July 22, 2007 (Addis Ababa) - Agricultural outputs marketing agency of the Oromia State announced that it has established market information centers in ten woredas of the region with a view to providing up-to-date marketing information for customers. The agency has also set plan to build regional agricultural outputs marketing center in Burayu town of West Shoa Zone.
Agency General Manager, Esmael Yassin told ENA on Saturday that absence of up-to-date market information is one of the constraints that hinder agricultural output marketing in the region.
Two experts would be deployed in every marketing center, he said, adding a committee was also established in a bid to facilitate the activities of the centers.
The centers, which are networked through Woreda-Net, exchange information on agricultural outputs marketing.
Furthermore, he said, the agency has already received 250,000 sq. meter area of land from Burayu town administration to construct a regional marketing center.
The regional marketing center would serve as hub for wholesale of agricultural products coming from different parts of the state.
